ATTENDANT: That will calm him down for a while.
THEY LEAVE, LOOKING THE PADDED CELL. ISABELLA TRIES TO REMOVE IT BUT HE FIGHTS HER. IS PUSHED INSIDE WITH ISABELLA.
ISABELLA: Jack, god.

JACK: NO, NO!

ISABELLA: Jack stop it. Let me do it.

JACK: No, no.

ISABELLA: Stop it. Jack, STOP IT! I can help you. (Trying to calm him) It's me.
JACK BEGINS TO CALM DOWN BUT IS PANTING IN FEAR.
ISABELLA: Okay. They were just trying to scare you, okay. It's going to be okay.  I'm going to take it off, okay? I'm going to take it off. You're okay. Okay, so the the one at the top. Okay.
SHE UNDOES THE TIES AT THE BACK AND JACK STRUGGLES OUT OF THE JACKET.

THEN FLINGS HIMSELF AT THE DOOR TRYING TO GET OUT.

ISABELLA: It's no use Jack, we can't get out.

JACK: There's got to be someway. There's got to be someway.
HE RUNS AROUND THE ROOM LOOKING AT THE WALLS AND CEILING.
ISABELLA: Jack, I thought you were paying that attendant a lot of money to get us out.
JACK IS SWEATING AND FIGHTING CLAUSTROPHOBIA.
JACK: So did I, so did I. I guess he went to the highest bidder, huh?

ISABELLA: Do you think it's Victor?

JACK: Victor Kiriakis, yeah. But don't worry I'm not going to let anybody hurt you.

HE IS STILL SWEATING AND PANTING.

JACK: Don't worry.

ISABELLA: It's the key isn't it?

JACK: (Patting himself) Yeah. Don't worry. Nobody's going to hurt you.

ISABELLA: You don't know that Jack. How can you say that?

JACK: I don't know. I don't know. We'll think of something.

THE DOOR SUDDENLY OPENS AND TWO ATTENDANTS COME IN CARRYING JACK'S SUIT COAT [DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW WHICH ATTENDANT IS SPEAKING].

ATTENDANT1: Didn't like your new suit?

ATTENDANT2: Well how do you like your new room?

JACK: Well, to tell you the truth, I.... er..... I think.... we think we'd rather have a place with view and maybe a little cable TV.

ATTENDANT2: Well they're all taken, wise guy.

JACK: Well, I tell you what, put us on the waiting list. I can pay for it. I have a lot of money. See, a lot of money.
JACK HOLDS UP A WAD OF NOTES AND THE GUY SNATCHES THEM FROM HIM.
ATTENDANT1: Thanks, that's very generous. Ah what else do you have here?
HE BEGINS TO GO THROUGH THE POCKETS IN JACK'S SUIT COAT. TAKES OUT JACK'S CAR KEYS AND HANDS THEM TO THE OTHER ATTENDANT.
ATTENDANT1: Won't be needing these.

ATTENDANT2: Nahh.

ATTENDANT1: What, no wallet.
JACK IS SURPRISED.

JACK: Well, I guess I travel light. And, ah.... speaking of which, it's really been great doing business with you. I'll see you in another life.

JACK MAKES A BREAK FOR THE DOOR BUT THEY STOP HIM.
ATTENDANT2: Now, you're not going anywhere!

JACK: Wait a minute. I thought we had a deal.

ATTENDANT2: Well you thought wrong.

JACK: But I....

ATTENDANT1:  Come on, let's get out of here.

JACK: I thought.... wait a minute, wait a minute. COME BACK HERE! You don't know who I am. Obviously. Look, I have friends in high places and if you don't let us out of here right now I'm going to make sure that you two are locked away and they throw away the key.

ATTENDANT1: How can you do that when you are locked in here.
ATTENDANT1 THROWS JACK HIS JACK, AND THEY  LEAVE, LOCKING THE DOOR.
JACK: LOOK I'M TELLING YOU.... I....

ISABELLA: What are we going to do now?

JACK IS SILENT AS HE SLIDES DOWN THE WALL TO SIT ON THE FLOOR.

SCENE TWO: A LITTLE LATER, JACK IS STANDING IN FRONT OF THE PADDED DOOR, EXAMINING IT; ISABELLA IS PACING AROUND THE ROOM.

Jack and Isabella held in a padded cell;
2:30 Min; 6 Meg

ISABELLA: We're never going to get out of here, are we?

JACK: Yes we are.

ISABELLA: You never should have got involved. You wouldn't have if it wasn't for me.

JACK: I tell you something. I would have gotten involved whether you wanted me to or not.

ISABELLA: Well, what if we never get out of here?

JACK: Look, you have to cut it out with the doom and gloom stuff. What happened to your sister is not going to happen to you.

ISABELLA: You may not be able to stop it.

JACK: Look, all I know is that it's not over till it's over. Until we think of something.

ISABELLA: What about where you work? When you don't show up they'll call the police, right?

JACK: No, I told them I was going on a vacation. A long one.

ISABELLA: What about your family?

JACK: (Laughing, considering his relationship with his family) Heh, heh! Guess again. No.

ISABELLA: Does anybody know you're here?

JACK: You know something? I did such a.... I did such a good job of covering my tracks. I guess I did too good a job.

ISABELLA: I guess so.

JACK: Well, what are they going to do? I mean they can't feed us to the lions.

JACK EXPRESSION CHANGES, AS A THOUGHT COMES TO HIM.

JACK: (Cont.) Wait a minute. That's it. That's it!

ISABELLA: What?

JACK: Look, they've got to feed us right? They've got to feed us. So look we're going to wait for them, that's all.

HE HE LEADS HER TO THE DOOR, AND SITS HER DOWN.
JACK: (Cont.) We'll just sit and wait and when they open that door, you divert them and (stuttering) I'll.... I'll take 'em out and we can escape.

ISABELLA: Okay, do you think it'll work?

JACK: Of course, it's going to work. All we have to do is sit back and wait. Just let them come to us.

ISABELLA: Okay.
NEXT THING A SLIT OPENS IN THE DOOR AND JACK RUSHES OVER TO IT. A TRAY OF FOOD IS PUSHED THROUGH STRAIGHT INTO HIS NOSE AND THEN LANDING ON THE FLOOR.
JACK: Wait a minute! Wait! I....

ISABELLA: So much for that idea.

JACK: (Frustrated)That was one idea. There'll be others.

JACK IS STILL RUBBING HIS NOSE.

ISABELLA: You know we may be in here for a while so I think that we should eat. Do you want to eat something?

JACK: No. You eat. I'll think.

SCENE THREE: MARCUS IS VISITING KAYLA. SHE TELLS HIM ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS. WITH MARINA AND ERNESTO TOSCANO DEAD WHO CAN HELP THEM WITH FINDING THE KEY. THIS GETS MARCUS TO THINKING, REMEMBERING THAT ISABELLA IS IN BAYVIEW.

SCENE FOUR: BACK AT BAYVIEW, ISABELLA IS SITTING ON THE FLOOR EATING WHILE JACK PACES.
ISABELLA: Are you sure you don't want something to eat?

JACK: Nobody knows that I'm here. What about you, there's got to be somebody. One of these people out here. One of these attendants who work here.

ISABELLA: No, unless they're all paid off. (She yawns.)

JACK: Yeah you're right, they probably are. But still there's somebody. There's got to be somebody. Come on, think.

ISABELLA: There was this doctor.

JACK: Doctor?

ISABELLA: I don't know his name. He came to see me once.

JACK: Wait a minute, wait a minute. What did he look like? Go ahead, come on.

ISABELLA: Um, he was a black man. He was young.... he was young....

JACK: (Frowning remembering his conversation with Marcus.) No. He's not going to come back here.

ISABELLA: Probably not. I wasn't very nice to him.

JACK: Neither was I.
ISABELLA BEGINS TO RUB HER HEAD AND LOOK DIZZY.

JACK: Wait a minute. Are you alright?

ISABELLA: I feel really tired all of a sudden.
SHE SLOWLY LIES DOWN AND GOES TO SLEEP.
JACK: All of a sudden. What do you mean, all of a sudden?
HE BENDS OVER HER, AND SHAKES HER TO WAKE HER UP.

JACK: Wake up, alright, come on. Wake up. All of a sudden?
JACK WALKS OVER TO THE FOOD AND SNIFFS IT.
JACK: It must be off.

HE THROWS THE TRAY AGAINST THE DOOR.

JACK: DAMN! Damn! Don't worry, don't worry. I'm going to take care of everything. Don't worry. (Beat) Wait a minute. Wait a minute. They may have just helped us.

JACK SITS AND THINKS FOR A WHILE THEN COVERS ISABELLA WITH A BLANKET.
JACK: It's going to be alright. I know it's going to be alright.
JACK SITS NEXT TO HER AND RUBS HIS CHIN IN CONTEMPLATION.

[Air date mid-December 1989]
SCENE ONE: ISABELLA IS STILL ASLEEP AND JACK IS GETTING WORRIED.

HE DECIDES IT IS TIME TO TRY AND WAKE HER UP.
JACK: Isabella. Isabella, it's time to wake up.

ISABELLA: Jack?

JACK: That's right, it's me.

ISABELLA: I'm tired.

JACK: I know you are. That's why you have to get up. Come on.

ISABELLA: I can't.

JACK: Yes, you can. Oh, yes you can. Put your legs on the floor. Let me help. You gotta walk.
JACK SUPPORTS HER AS HE PACES HER UP AND DOWN THE ROOM.
JACK: Oh, here we go. Here we go. We've got to walk off those drugs. We've got to get them out of your system.

ISABELLA: Drugs?

JACK: Yep. You've been out like a light since dinner last night.

ISABELLA: They've been drugging the food?

JACK: Yeah, I think they tried at least.

ISABELLA: Oh my god, what are they doing to us?

JACK: Well I think they've been trying to keep us quiet.

ISABELLA: Until they can figure out what to do to us?

JACK: Well, actually I've been up most of the night trying to figure out what Victor's trying to do to us. At least what's in it for him, I mean, as far as keeping us here.

ISABELLA: How can you be so sure it's Victor?

JACK: Well, I can't think of anybody else who's after you.

ISABELLA: I'm sorry I got you into this.

JACK: Don't be. I got myself into it. Besides if we want to blame anybody let's blame your sister.

ISABELLA: Well, I know Marina did some pretty awful things but I can't help wishing she could come back, you know. Be alive again.

JACK: (Feeling bad about what he said) Look, I'm sorry. I can't really understand what you're going through here.

ISABELLA: First my father and my sister. I never really had a chance to say goodbye.

JACK: I don't know how to say this but we have to concentrate on getting out of here.

ISABELLA: That's impossible.

JACK: No, no. Difficult maybe but nothing is impossible.

ISABELLA: Does that mean you've thought of a way out of here?

JACK: Yes, yes. But this time I'm going to need your help.

SCENE TWO: JACK SEARCHES AROUND THE ROOM.
JACK: Well, if Big Brother is listening, he's using mighty invisible equipment.

ISABELLA: Then it's okay to talk?

JACK: I think that's all we can do. We certainly can't eat or drink anything that they've given us.

ISABELLA: Do you think that they're going to keep drugging us?

JACK: Sure. You see what they don't know is that we're not taking it and when they come in, I'm going to jump them and escape.

ISABELLA: I doubt I'll be much help there.

JACK: Well, you don't have to do anything. All you have to do is act like you're asleep. You can do that.

ISABELLA: I'll do anything I can to get out of here.

JACK: Good, because I think we're going to need it.
SCENE THREE: MEANWHILE STEVE HAS FOUND OUT ABOUT ISABELLA. HEGOES TO THE SANITARIUM TO LOOK FOR HER. STEVE TRIES TO OPEN A DOOR. HE IS CAUGHT BY AN ATTENDANT BRINGING THE DRUGGED FOOD TO JACK AND ISABELLA. THE ATTENDANT HAS ANOTHER ATTENDANT ESCORTED OUT.

SCENE FOUR: JACK TAKES THE TRAY OF FOOD THROUGH THE SLOT.
JACK: I've got it. Thanks. (To Isabella) Try not to look so hungry.

ISABELLA: I'm trying not to.

JACK: Good. Cause I got a plan.

ISABELLA: What?
JACK WALKS OVER TO THE PADDED WALL.
JACK: You see, I'm.... you see I'm going.... I'm going to dig a hole in the wall and I'm going to take the doped food and I'm going to put it in there. And by the time the guys figure out that we're not drugged, we'll be long gone. We'll be out of here.

ISABELLA: Or caught.

JACK: Oh no, no, no. We're going to get out of here. Don't you believe me?

ISABELLA: Yeah, I believe you.
JACK LOOKS VERY UNSURE HIMSELF.

SCENE FIVE: STEVE GOES BACK TO SEE MARCUS WHO TELLS HIM THAT THEY NEED A COURT ORDER TO SEARCH BAYVIEW. HE HAS EVEN MORE BAD NEWS, MICKEY CALLED THE HEAD OF THE SANITARIUM AND WAS TOLD THAT ISABELLA IS NO LONGER THERE, AS OF YESTERDAY.

[Air date mid-December 1989]
SCENE ONE: HAVING BEEN KICKED OFF THE FORCE, ROMAN GOES TO ADRIENNE FOR A CONSTRUCTION JOB. HER NEW FOREMAN IS THERE -- THE ONE WHO SEEMS SUSPECIOUS.

SCENE TWO: JENNIFER IS BACK AT THE OFFICE AND STILL VERY WORRIED ABOUT JACK. EMILIO ACCUSES HER OF CONTINUALLY THINKING OF JACK, AND THAT SHE SHOULD LEAVE IT ALONE. SHE IS SURE JACK IS IN TROUBLE BECAUSE SHE FOUND HIS WALLET, AND THAT HE HAS NOT TURNED UP AT HIS HOTEL. SHE IS SURE HE WENT TO SEE ISABELLA AND THAT HE WAS GOING TO TAKE HER AWAY. EMILIO SAYS THAT "JACKIE BOY" PROBABLY HAS A LITTLE SOMETHING GOING ON THE SIDE. BUT JENNIFER TELLS HIM THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE; SHE JUST KNOWS JACK TOO WELL. SHE CONTINUES TO TELL EMILIO THAT SHE AND JACK ARE JUST FRIENDS, AND THAT JACK IS THE MOST SELFISH, STUBBORN MAN SHE KNOWS; BUT BY HER EXPRESSION AND THE TONE OF HER VOICE IT IS OBVIOUS THAT SHE CARES DEEPLY FOR JACK. EMILIO SAYS THAT IF THAT IS THE CASE, WHY DOES HE BUG HER SO MUCH. SHE TELLS HIM AGAIN THAT SHE HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO IGNORE JACK BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT JACK WANTS.
