Jack in his Bedroom, Jennifer
Confronts Him about their Feelings
for Each Other. What Will He Do?

 

SCENE ONE: JACK IS CALLED DOWN TO THE POLICE STATION TO SEE ROMAN.

 

JACK: Roman, Roman.

ROMAN: Close the door Jack.

JACK: Oh, okay. I got your message. It's about Kayla right?

ROMAN: Could be.

JACK: Well, what can I do?

ROMAN: Well first of all you can relax. I just want some information.

JACK: About what?

 

ROMAN HOLDS UP THE EARRING JACK FOUND IN MARINA'S HOTEL ROOM.

 

ROMAN: About this.

JACK: Oh that. I thought I told you all about that thing.

ROMAN: You told me that you found it when you and Isabella went to search Marina's room for that key.

JACK: Yeah, so?

ROMAN: You never told me whether or not Isabella ever got a good look at it.

JACK: Yes.

ROMAN: Yes?

JACK: No.

ROMAN: No?

JACK: No.

ROMAN: Oh come on Jack.

JACK: No, I mean I don't know.

ROMAN: What do you mean you don't know?

JACK: I honestly don't know. We had so much going on at that time I can't remember every little detail.

ROMAN: This is not a mere detail so pull it together Jack and try to remember.

JACK: I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll mull it over at the office and I'll get back to you.

ROMAN: You're going to mull it over right here, pal

 

ROMAN MANHANDLES JACK BACK INTO A CHAIR.

 

JACK: Whoa, whoa!

ROMAN: I'm conducting a murder investigation here so let's have it!

JACK: Look I'm trying to help you. I took time out of my busy day to help Kayla.

ROMAN: Yeah, you took time out of your schedule to try to protect Isabella when this whole thing started too, didn't you?

JACK: You don't think this has anything to do with Isabella! (Beat) Or you do! You think she did it! Do you? (Beat) Roman, come on. There is no way Isabella could have killed her sister.

ROMAN: How can you be so sure about that Jack, huh?

JACK: Well....I've spent some time with her.

ROMAN: Yeah, well I've been spending some time myself with the girl here and everything I've got is pointing right at her.

JACK: Well what have you got pointing at her?

ROMAN: This for starters.

JACK: Do you know that that belonged to her?

ROMAN: At this point right now, everything's just a hunch.

JACK: I tell you what, when you get something a little bit more concrete, maybe we could....

ROMAN: Jack, look, look, listen to me. Why do you think Isabella wouldn't mention the fact that you two found this earring in Marina's hotel room?

JACK: Well that's easy because I found it. And that was also before she got shot and lost her memory and blocked out the whole death.

ROMAN: That's a bit too convenient don't you think man?

JACK: It's not that outrageous. I mean what do you expect?

ROMAN: Come on, I expect the truth Jack and so far I'm not getting any of it.

JACK: You know that she's not capable of hurting a fly let alone murdering somebody.

ROMAN: I'll tell you what I know. Marina was capable of pushing people to the max. She might have pushed Isabella to the point of killing her. What do you think?

JACK: Now would Marina have done something like that? Why?

ROMAN: Look when I find the killer I'll look for the motive.

JACK: I'm sorry, this is very silly Roman. I'm sorry, you've got everything....

ROMAN: Maybe you can clear up my head out a little bit here and tell me what you know about this earring, huh?

JACK: Look we've been through this whole thing before. I can't

ROMAN: Listen I've got all day. I've got all day. Let's start at the beginning. Step by step when you decided to go to that room to look for that key. Want some coffee, we'll make a day of it!

JACK: Alright, alright, alright. Isabella and I tried to figure out where Marina could have hidden that key.

ROMAN: Right.

JACK: And then Isabella thought we should go over to the hotel where Marina was staying.

ROMAN: That's when you decided to go on over there.

JACK: That's right, that's right. But Isabella didn't want to go because that's where her sister got killed but I said it's important and she decided to go anyway.

ROMAN: Then what happened?

JACK: Well obviously we didn't find the key.

ROMAN: No, but you did find the earring. Now tell me, did Isabella ever see it?

JACK: We've been through this before.

ROMAN: AND WE'LL GO THROUGH IT A HUNDRED TIMES UNTIL YOU GET THE DAMN COBWEBS OUT OF YOUR HEAD!

JACK: Alright, alright!

ROMAN: Now did she see the earring?

JACK: I don't remember. It's a possibility.

ROMAN: Possibilities don't cut it with me pal. Did she see the earring? Come on, think man!

JACK: I am on your side. I'm trying to help everybody here but I think you're jumping to conclusions about Isabella.

ROMAN: Well I hope that's all I'm jumping to.

JACK: Well it's nice to know you care a little bit about the girl.

ROMAN: All I care about is seeing that the girl gets fair shake. That's as far as it's going man.

JACK: Well that's too bad because I know that she cares a little bit about you.

ROMAN: What did you say?

JACK: I said that she cares about you. She's got the....the Italian equivalent of a thing for you.

ROMAN: Well how would you know something like that?

JACK: Well I'm a pretty good judge of people. So she cares about you.

ROMAN: Well like I said, we've been spending a little bit of time together.

JACK: It's funny because I think, how could she feel this way unless she was getting something in return.

ROMAN: Jack, look I'm just trying to do my job as a cop. And if she starts reading a little something into it, I can't help it.

JACK: No I guess you can't.

ROMAN: Look by any quirk of nature if you happen to remember anything about this earring here....

JACK: I got your number, yeah.

ROMAN: Oh one more thing.

JACK: Huh.

ROMAN: If I were you I wouldn't mention any of this conversation to anybody if you know what I mean.

JACK: And you know about Isabella. You might want to think about it. It seems a pretty good thing. Maybe you shouldn't blow it.

 

JACK LEAVES.

SCENE TWO: BACK AT WINGS, MELISSA IS TRYING CONVINCE JENNIFER THAT EMILIO IS THE RIGHT MAN FOR HER. MELISSA TELLS HER THAT SHE SHOULD TELL EMILIO THE TRUTH. JENNIFER SAYS SHE HAS TO MAKE UP HER MIND THEN FIGHT FOR WHAT SHE WANTS. SHE DECIDES TO SETTLE HER FUTURE ONCE AND FOR ALL. MELISSA IS GLAD, SHE BELIEVES JENNIFER IS REFERRING TO EMILIO.

SCENE THREE: JACK IS IN HIS BEDROOM, WIPING HIS FACE WITH A TOWEL. THERE IS A KNOCK AT THE DOOR.

 

JACK: What is it Sheldon?

 

IT IS NOT SHELDON, BUT JENNIFER. SHE HAS A DETERMINED LOOK ON HER FACE, AND SHE STORMS INTO HIS BEDROOM, TO JACK'S SURPRISE.

 

JENNIFER: Jack, we have to talk.

JACK: Jennifer, what are you doing....

JENNIFER: Sheldon let me in.

JACK: Yeah, well Sheldon can let you back out again.

JENNIFER: NO!

JACK: Yes!

JENNIFER: Not until we get something straight.

 

SHE THUMPS HIM ON THE CHEST.

 

JACK: What?

JENNIFER: US!

JACK: Jennifer.....

 

SHE THUMPS HIM AGAIN.

 

JENNIFER: Forget it Jack!

JACK: Jennifer this is my house and my bedroom and.....

JENNIFER: Exactly. So we won't be bothered.

JACK: I'm beginning to get a little bothered myself.

JENNIFER: Look Jack, you can't joke about this alright. We're going to talk about how we feel about each other right now.

JACK: I thought you said you didn't want to joke.

JENNIFER: Stop it! You know how I feel.

JACK: (Rolling his eyes) Please Jennifer, Jennifer.

JENNIFER: Look Emilio wants me to make a commitment to him but the only person I want to commit to is you. You're the one I want!

JACK: Well that's my cue to leave.

JENNIFER: OH NO! NO!

JACK: Yes!

JENNIFER: NO! You are not going anywhere.

SCENE FOUR: JENNIFER RUSHES TO THE DOOR AND STANDS IN FRONT OF IT SO HE CANNOT OPEN IT.

JACK: Oh really!

 

JENNIFER TAKES THE KEY OUT OF THE DOOR AND DROPS IT DOWN HER FRONT.

 

JACK: Ah.... Jennifer..... ah.... Je.....

JENNIFER: REALLY!

 

SHE WALKS PAST JACK WHO HAS AN AMAZED AND FRIGHTENED LOOK ON HIS FACE. JENNIFER HAS A FUNNY EXPRESSION ON HER FACE, AND STOPS AND WIGGLES HER BODY AS THE KEY FALLS FURTHER DOWN INTO HER BRA.

 

JENNIFER: Er....oops.

JACK: Alright, I want that key!

JENNIFER: You want the key Jack? Come and get it!

JACK: I want that key....in my hand immediately. Do you understand?

JENNIFER: You are not going to bully your way out of this, this time Jack.

JACK: No, I'm going to call a locksmith.

 

JACK PICKS UP THE PHONE AND BEGINS TO DIAL.

 

JACK: 555 1....

 

JENNIFER REACHES OVER AND HANGS UP.

 

JACK: 555 1....

 

SHE HANGS UP AGAIN.

JACK: 555 1....

 

THIS TIME SHE GRABS THE PHONE FROM JACK AND HANGS IT UP HERSELF.

 

JACK: What are you going to do? Put it down there too.

JENNIFER: I am not going to let you avoid this. Now you know how I feel about you! I want to know how you feel about me. The truth!

JACK: The truth is I want you to unlock that door.

JENNIFER: Why do you keep fighting me Jack? Why can't you just give in to what you want?

 

SHE WALKS TOWARDS HIM AND HE BACKS UP AWAY FROM HER.

 

JACK: I want you to go.

JENNIFER: No you don't.

JACK: I want to be alone.

JENNIFER: You want me to be with you. You don't want to be alone. You want me to be with you. You're just too afraid to say it Jack.

JACK: You're putting words in my mouth.

JENNIFER: Oh really! Then let's see if your body can do the talking Jack, okay.

 

SHE WALKS UP BEHIND AND PUTS HER ARMS AROUND HIS CHEST RUNNING HER HANDS UP AND DOWN. JACK IS NERVOUS, AND TRIES TO STRUGGLE, BUT HE DOES NOT DO *THAT* GOOD OF A JOB. JACK DOES NOT MIND DESPITE OF WHAT HE DOES OR SAYS.

JACK: Oooooh! While your fingers do the walking.

 

SHE SPINS HIS ROUND TO FACE HER.

 

JENNIFER: What do you want?

JACK: I don't want this.

JENNIFER: No?

JACK: Yes!

JENNIFER: Yes?

JACK: No!

JENNIFER: You don't want this, really?

JACK: Yes, really! I mean no.

 

JENNIFER BEGINS TO KISS HIM AND HE RESPONDS INSTANTLY. THEY CONTINUE TO KISS FOR A FEW MINUTES UNTIL JACK PULLS AWAY.

 

JACK: Ah....no.....no. I meant no.

 

JACK IS CONFUSED. JENNIFER IS DOING A GOOD JOB OF BREAKING DOWN HIS DEFENSES.

 

JENNIFER: Jack, you want me. I know you do. I want you too.

JACK: No, you don't know what you're saying.

JENNIFER: Yes I do. For once I know exactly what I'm saying and I know exactly what I'm doing Jack.

 

JENNIFER BEGINS TO UNDO THE BUTTONS ON HIS SHIRT WHILE HE PRETENDS TO RESIST.

 

JENNIFER: We're meant to be together. We make a perfect couple Jack. You want what I want and I want what you want. And if you just try a little bit harder Jack....

 

HE TRIES TO BUTTON ONE OF THE BUTTONS.

JENNIFER: ....no, no. Don't try that hard. We can be very happy Jack. We can be very happy Jack!

 

SHE PEELS HIS SHIRT BACK OVER HIS SHOULDER.

 

JACK: Ooooh! This isn't working.

JENNIFER: Jack, don't fight me.

 

SHE PULLS HIM BACKWARDS TOWARDS HER BY PULLING THE TIE WHICH IS STILL AROUND HIS NECK.

 

JACK: I'm trapped is what I am.

JENNIFER: You're scared Jack. I'm scared too. That's the point. We feel something when we're together. We have a passion, it's chemistry.

JACK: It's cold! It's very cold out here. As a matter of fact, I'm freezing. Look at these goose bu....

 

JENNIFER BEGINS TO KISS HIM AGAIN AND HE INSTANTLY GIVES IN.

JENNIFER: Jack, don't fight it. Don't fight it. Just give in.

JACK: Okay.

 

THEY BACK UP TOWARDS THE BED AND JACK THROWS HIMSELF BACKWARDS ONTO IT WITH JENNIFER ON TOP OF HIM. THE LEG OF THE BED GIVES WAY....

.... AND THEY SLIDE ONTO THE FLOOR OUT OF SIGHT.

 

JENNIFER: Jack, don't stop. Forget the bed! Forget the bed!

JACK: The earth's moving!!

JENNIFER: FORGET THE BED! DON'T STOP JACK!

JACK: AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
