Learning That Jennifer Has Moved
to Alamain's Embassy, Jack Devises
a Plan to Get Inside and Free Her.

[Air date late September 1990]

SCENE ONE: JACK IS WAITING AT THE JAPANESE RESTAURANT. VERN WALKS IN THE DOOR.

JACK: Vern!

VERN: Jack.

JACK: Vern what the.... what the hell took you so long? You know what time it is?

VERN: Well it's good to see you too Jack. I'm just going to have a little cold drink.

JACK: There's no time for a drink.

VERN: Whatever happened to your sense of fun?

JACK: Lost it with my purse.

VERN: Next thing you'll be telling me you've been wearing panty hose.

JACK TURNS BACK TO VERN AND FROWNS.

VERN: Jack?

JACK: Vern. Did you get the things that I asked for?

VERN: Yeah, cash....

JACK: Good.

VERN: Credit cards....

JACK: Good.

VERN: Lipstick?

JACK: Vern.

VERN: Aaargh, never mind, no.

JACK: Never mind.

VERN AND JACK START A SHORT MACHO ROUTINE WITH LOTS OF SNIFFING AND GRUNTING.

VERN: Listen Jack?

JACK: Yeah how were those cubs, huh? Yeah.

VERN: Listen why did you ask me down here to deliver this stuff personally?

JACK: Ah, well to pull out the big guns and well, you know, well I needed your help.

VERN: With what?

JACK: With ah.... to keep someone from making the biggest mistake of their lives.... Jennifer, Jennifer!

VERN: Oh, that's different.

JACK: Yeah.

SCENE TWO: BACK AT THE HOTEL, JENNIFER HAS HAD HER HAIR AND NAILS DONE. WARNER COMES INTO HER ROOM AND GIVES HER THE VON LEUSCHNER JEWELS TO WEAR TONIGHT TO MEET LAWRENCE ALAMAIN. SHE IS NERVOUS BUT EXCITED TOO.

SCENE THREE: BACK IN THE RESTAURANT, JACK IS EXPLAINING HIS PLAN TO VERN.

JACK: You know how easy it is for Jennifer to get herself in these crazy predicaments.

VERN: Yeah.

JACK: So I have spent the last twenty-four hours trying to figure this thing out. All I could find out is that she and Warner Bayer are headed to the embassy which is where Alamain is.

VERN: Alamain. That's that wealthy guy we used in that heiress feature, right?

JACK: Excellent memory Vern, excellent, excellent.

VERN: Yeah. Well now I've got the where and the when and the who, what about the what and the why?

JACK: It'll take all night to explain it to you and we don't have time. Come on.

VERN: Now wait a minute, wait a minute. Now look I know, quote, we're going to save Jennifer from the biggest mistake of her life, unquote, but a little question, how?

JACK: Well that's easy. We're going to break into that embassy.

VERN: We, what do you mean, we, the stuff?

JACK: We, we, you, me, we, us.

JACK GRINS AND VERN BURIES HIS FACE IN HIS HANDS.

JACK: Vern, you know something. I'm glad you asked. I tell you what we're going to do....

SCENE FOUR: A WHILE LATER VERN AND JACK ARE LEANING ON THE BAR AND JACK IS DRAWING ON A PAPER NAPKIN.

JACK: The limo is here, eeeerrrh, and we're going to be right there. And.... Vern?

VERN: I got it the first three times you explained it to me. The limo here, us here.

JACK: Exactly. Vern why can't you be more excited about this?

VERN: Because you could get hurt.

JACK: You know something, you're right.

VERN: Hmmm.

JACK: You know the more I look at this, I realize that you're the right man for this job, not me. Why didn't I think about this before?

VERN: What? Are you asking me to be Jennifer's hero?

JACK: No, nobody said anything about being a hero.

VERN: Well that's good because you're the one who's in love with her, not me.

JACK: No, no, no. Vern, love has got nothing to do with this.

VERN: Jack take my word for it. Love is a nice thing.

JACK: If this is your way of saying that you want to be a coward, you want to get out of it, we'll just go back to the original plan and I'll do it. (Beat) As long as you're really sure.

VERN: Oh I'm absolutely sure. Jack look this is risky business. You have to be careful.

JACK: Vern, don't worry about a thing. That's my middle name, careful.

JACK STARTS TO WALK OUT OF THE RESTAURANT BUT TRIPS AND KNOCKS OVER A TABLE AND FALLS ON THE FLOOR.

JACK: Careful!

SCENE FIVE: JENNIFER AND WARNER HAVE ARRIVED AT THE EMBASSY TO MEET LAWRENCE. THEY ARE IN THE MAIN BALLROOM WHEN GREGORY, LAWRENCE'S ASSISTANT, ARRIVES TO GREET THEM. HE SHOWS THEM TO THEIR ROOMS AND JENNIFER GOES TO GET CHANGED FOR THE BIG EVENT.

SCENE SIX: THE EMBASSY GUARDS CARRY IN AN UNCONSCIOUS MAN. IT IS JACK IN DISGUISE. HE IS WEARING PLAID PANTS AND A JACKET IN A DIFFERENT PLAID. HIS HAT IS ALSO PLAID ALONG WITH HIS SHIRT. HE HAS A LARGE FALSE MUSTACHE AND A BANDANA TIED AROUND HIS NECK ALONG WITH ABOUT SIX HEAVY GOLD CHAINS. HE IS ACCOMPANIED BY AN SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS WEARING SIMILAR BAD TASTE CLOTHES AND A BIG FAKE MUSTACHE, IT S VERN (THEY LOOK LIKE STEVE MARTIN AND DAN ACKROYD IN THE "TWO WILD AND CRAZY GUYS" SKETCH FROM SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.) APPARENTLY JACK WAS HIT BY A LIMO ENTERING THE EMBASSY. THE GUARDS PLUNK HIM ON THE SOFA. JUST AS THEY ARE ABOUT TO CALL THE STAFF PHYSICIAN, JACK COMES TO. HE APPEARS TO BE SPEAKING SOME VERY STRANGE FOREIGN LANGUAGE.

JACK: Ahhhh.... cronje.... bler.... cran.

ONE OF THE GUARDS ANNOUNCES THAT THE WITNESS HAS CALLED THE POLICE. JACK GETS AGITATED. THEY RUN OUTSIDE. VERN STAYS WITH JACK.

VERN: Are you alright?

JACK: Couldn't be better. Pretty good treatment if we were really hurt.

VERN: We're both going to be hurt if they find out we're a couple of fakes.

JACK: Don't worry. They're not going to find out that we're flakes.... that we're.... listen I want you to just get back to the hotel and wait for us, alright. We'll meet you there.

VERN: Yeah, okay. Good luck.

JACK: Cronje!

VERN: Yes.

JACK: Luck.... yeah!

VERN HURRIES OUT OF THE EMBASSY AND JACK SETS ABOUT TO FIND JENNIFER. HE CREEPS UPSTAIRS BUT HAS TO HOLD THE CHAINS AROUND HIS NECK BECAUSE THEY JINGLE EVERYTIME HE TAKES A STEP. HE COMES TO A BEDROOM AND USES HIS CREDIT CARD TO OPEN THE DOOR.

JACK: Hey, don't leave home without it.

HE SNEAKS INSIDE AND SHUTS THE DOOR.

JACK: Hello.

AFTER CHECKING THE BATHROOM, HE FINDS JENNIFER'S ROBE LYING ON THE BED. HE PICKS IT UP AND THINKS OF HER. ON THE DRESSER HE FINDS HER JEWELRY BOX WHICH CONTAINS NOTHING BUT THE SHELL RING HE GAVE HER. HE PICKS IT UP AND LOOKS AT IT CLOSELY.

SCENE SEVEN: IN THE BALLROOM THE MEETING OF LAWRENCE AND "KATERINA" IS ABOUT TO TAKE PLACE. THERE ARE ARMED GUARDS AT ALL THE DOORS. THE GUESTS ARE SEATED AND GREGORY INTRODUCES KATERINA AND THEN LAWRENCE. JENNIFER WALKS TO THE ENTRANCE AND IS WEARING A BLACK AND PINK TAFFETA GOWN AND A DIAMOND TIARA. LAWRENCE WALKS DOWN THE RED CARPET TOWARDS JENNIFER AND SHE HOLDS OUT HER HAND FOR HIM TO KISS IT. HE SMILES AT HER THEN HOLDS HER HAND AS HE ANNOUNCES THEIR ENGAGEMENT. SHE HANDS HIM THE COIN THAT IS THE SYMBOL OF BETROTHAL. LAWRENCE ACCEPTS HER AS HIS INTENDED BRIDE. LAWRENCE THEN WALKS OVER TO WARNER.

LAWRENCE: Our pact is sealed.

WARNER: The von Leuschner family is equally pleased to seal this pact.

JENNIFER IS SURPRISED BECAUSE AS PART OF THEIR DEAL, WARNER IS NOW SUPPOSED TO TELL LAWRENCE THAT SHE CANNOT HAVE CHILDREN SO THAT HE WILL ANNUL THE PACT. HOWEVER WARNER JUST ACTS LIKE NOTHING IS WRONG. LAWRENCE ANNOUNCES THAT THE MARRIAGE WILL TAKE PLACE ON HER TWENTY-FIFTH BIRTHDAY.

JENNIFER: Marriage?

LAWRENCE: Marriage.

WARNER: Marriage!

JACK IS NOW JUST OUTSIDE THE DOOR AND HE PEEPS IN. HE IS NOT AT ALL HAPPY AT THE IDEA OF JENNIFER MARRYING ANYONE ELSE.

JACK: Marriage?

[Air date early October 1990]

SCENE ONE: THEY ARE ALL STILL IN THE BALLROOM AND JACK SNEAKS IN AND HIDES BEHIND THE PLANTS. HE LISTENS TO LAWRENCE TELL HER THAT THEY HAVE WAITED A LONG TIME FOR THIS. SHE TRIES TO EXPLAIN TO LAWRENCE WHAT IS REALLY HAPPENING. LAWRENCE WILL NOT LET HER SPEAK BUT SHE INSISTS.

SCENE TWO: WARNER DRAGS HER OUTSIDE BEFORE SHE CAN SAY ANYTHING. OUTSIDE SHE ASKS WARNER WHY HE DID NOT TELL LAWRENCE AND HE TELLS HER THAT THE DEAL IS OFF. HE SAYS THAT LAWRENCE OBVIOUSLY BELIEVES SHE IS KATERINA AND THAT IF THEY TELL HIM SHE IS STERILE HE WILL HAVE HER EXAMINED BY HIS OWN DOCTOR AND SHE WILL BE IN BIG TROUBLE. SHE IS VERY SCARED BUT WARNER TELLS HER THAT IS THE WAY IT IS. SHE REALIZES SHE HAS BEEN SET UP FROM THE BEGINNING BUT WARNER TELLS HER THAT HER LIFE IS IN DANGER IF SHE TRIES TO GET OUT OF IT BECAUSE TOO MUCH MONEY IS INVOLVED. HE ALSO TELLS HER THAT THE REAL KATERINA'S LIFE WILL BE IN DANGER TOO. JENNIFER IS TOO SCARED TO SAY ANYTHING AT THIS POINT.

SCENE THREE: SHE GOES BACK INTO THE BALLROOM AND TELLS LAWRENCE THAT SHE IS HAPPY TO BE ENGAGED. JACK IS SHOCKED. SUDDENLY LAWRENCE RAISES HIS ARM AND A GUARD ESCORT SURROUNDS HER. HE TELLS HER THAT THEY WILL PROTECT HER DAY AND NIGHT UNTIL THEY ARE MARRIED. THE GUARDS ESCORT HER TO HER ROOM.

SCENE FOUR: LATER SHE IS PACING THE ROOM WHEN WARNER COMES IN WITH HER LUGGAGE. HE REFUSES TO DISCUSS ANY PART OF THE PLAN AND TELLS HER HE IS LEAVING. HE WALKS OUT AND SHE THROWS A PILLOW AT THE DOOR. THEN SHE HEARS A KNOCK ON THE DOOR.

JENNIFER: I told you the last thing I want to be is Mrs. Lawrence Alamain. The only Mrs. I want to be is Mrs....

IT IS OBVIOUS SHE IS ABOUT TO SAY "MRS. JACK DEVERAUX," BUT WHEN SHE OPENS THE DOOR AND JACK IS STANDING THERE.

JENNIFER: Jack!

JACK: Ah Jennifer Horton, no Katerina von Leuschner. I get you two mixed up.

JENNIFER GRABS HIM AND DRAGS HIM INSIDE AND SHUTS THE DOOR.

JACK (CONT.): ....OUCH! Your highness, that hurt.

JENNIFER: What are you doing here? You can't be here Jack. I have to take care of something. You have to get out of here.

JACK: Don't be mad at me. It's your plan that messed up. Looks to me like you've lost control. Looks to me like Warner von Bayer has just given you the.... the double cross. But look at the bright side. You've got me to help you get out of this mess.

JENNIFER: I don't want you you to help me. You are the last person that I want to help me right now, Jack.

JACK: It looks like.... I think it's me or nothing.

JENNIFER: Alright, alright, then it's nothing.

JACK: Oh come on now. You're not going to tell me you're going to turn away the one person who can get you out of this mess. Are you?

JENNIFER: Aren't I?

JACK: You are? (Beat) Alright, alright, you can tell me. Lay it on me. I can handle it. You hate me.

JENNIFER: Yes Jack right now I hate you.

JACK: Well that's alright. Whether you hate me or not, I'm going to get you out of this mess. You....

SHE IS INTERRUPTED BY A KNOCK AT THE DOOR.

JENNIFER: Who is it?

LAWRENCE: Katerina, it's me, Lawrence.

JACK AND JENNIFER STARE AT EACH OTHER IN FRIGHT.

[Air date early October 1990]

SCENE ONE: JACK AND JENNIFER ARE CAUGHT IN HER BEDROOM AT THE EMBASSY IN NEW YORK. LAWRENCE IS WAITING AT THE DOOR TO ENTER. HE KNOCKS AGAIN. JENNIFER DOES NOT SAY ANYTHING AND JACK SIGNALS HER TO REPLY.

JENNIFER: Who is it?

LAWRENCE: Jennifer, it's Lawrence. I need to speak to you.

JACK HIDES IN THE LARGE STEAMER TRUNK THAT HOLDS JENNIFER'S CLOTHES AND SHE ANSWERS THE DOOR.

JENNIFER: Lawrence.

LAWRENCE: May I come in?

JENNIFER: Yes of course.

LAWRENCE: Katerina I am so happy to see you again.

JENNIFER: I'm happy to see you too.

LAWRENCE: I understand how difficult this must be for you. After all, you and I are virtual strangers. Even though we'll soon be husband and wife. I'm sorry this makes you so nervous.

JENNIFER: I'm not nervous.

LAWRENCE: No? That little gesture of brushing your hair away from your face.

JENNIFER: Oh you mean when I do this? It's just a bad habit.

SHE BRUSHES HER HAIR WITH HER RIGHT HAND AGAIN.

LAWRENCE: And a charming one. But it does tell me that you're not completely comfortable with the situation.

JENNIFER: I'm sorry. I don't mean to offend you.

LAWRENCE: Don't, don't apologize. Under the circumstances this is quite understandable.

JENNIFER: You're very kind.

LAWRENCE: And you're very beautiful.

JACK PEEPS OUT OF THE CHEST.

JENNIFER: I'm also very tired. If you'll excuse me, I do really need to get some rest.

LAWRENCE: Katerina, don't worry I don't expect anything of you tonight. In my country we still have an inviolate respect for tradition so the relationship won't be consummated until our wedding night and that night I promise you will be perfect. Until then, a kiss will have to do.

JACK GLARES AT JENNIFER FROM THE CHEST AND WHEN LAWRENCE BENDS DOWN TO KISS HER SHE MOVES AWAY.

JENNIFER: Excuse me, it's been a long and exhausting day.

LAWRENCE: Of course it has. This can wait for another time. A time when you feel more relaxed.

HE WALKS OVER AND PUTS HIS FIST ON THE TRUNK WHERE JACK IS HIDING. IT IS EERIE, ALMOST AS IF HE CAN SENSE THAT JACK IS THERE.

LAWRENCE: I suppose you'd like to unpack before you go to bed. I'll send some people up to help.

JENNIFER: Ah, thank you but that's really not necessary. I would like to unpack but I would like to do it myself.

SHE MOVES HIS HAND OFF THE CHEST AND STANDS IN FRONT OF IT.

JENNIFER: And then I really would like to get a good night's sl....

SHE RUNS HER HAND OVER HER HAIR.

JENNIFER: I did it again. I'm sorry.

LAWRENCE: Please, please don't stop. Don't ever stop. I've waited such a long time to see that again.

JACK IS PUZZLED BY THAT COMMENT.

JENNIFER: Again?

LAWRENCE: Huh, uh. All those years ago when we met for the first time. I studied you then Katerina. Every movement, every nuance committed perfectly to memory and replayed quite often in my mind. But now I know that no conjured up image, no matter how vivid, could ever have compared to the real thing.

HE PUTS TWO FINGERS ON HIS LIPS THEN PLACES THEM ON HER LIPS.

LAWRENCE: The other kiss can wait Katerina but not for long. Goodnight.

JENNIFER: Goodnight.

LAWRENCE LEAVES. JENNIFER RUSHES OVER AND OPENS THE TRUNK TO LET JACK OUT.

JENNIFER: Jack.

JACK: Alright, what the hell was that all about?

JENNIFER: What are you talking about? He wanted to kiss me Jack.

JACK: That's not what I meant. I meant that part about a long time ago. You've met him before, haven't you?

JENNIFER WALKS AWAY.
oldEp195B

JACK:
Hey wait don't try stonewalling me. I'm nobody's fool Jennifer.

JACK GETS OUT OF THE CHEST AND HE HAS A COUPLE OF JENNIFER'S NIGHTGOWNS AROUND HIS NECK.

JENNIFER: Look Jack.... would you get this stuff off.

JACK: Don't try changing the subject. What did he mean by all that time ago?

JENNIFER: How should I know Jack?

JACK: Look he talked as if he'd seen you before.

JENNIFER: Well, he was mistaken.

JACK: No. He didn't strike me as the type to get mistaken. So where did he meet you before? Was it a pool party on the yacht or was it a sock hop at the embassy, what, what, what?

JENNIFER: Jack, you know what? He remembered Katerina, not me.

JACK: That's who he thinks you are.

JENNIFER: Well maybe I look like her or something.

JACK: The way he looked at you, you must be clones.

JENNIFER: Well you know what they say, everybody has a double.

JACK: Ooooh something smells really bad in here, really bad. Now what I want to know is this, why did he say what he said if he didn't mean what he did?

JENNIFER: Jack, what he said right was all those years ago, right. Maybe we met when we were children. Maybe when we were babies.

JACK: You know what you're right, you are absolutely right. And the moment that he saw you he suddenly had a flash back to the womb. He's got one hell of a long term memory.

JENNIFER: Yeah, among other things.

JACK: WHAT?

JENNIFER: A sixth sense. Couldn't you tell Jack? I mean it looked like he could read my mind, like he could listen to my thoughts. He even seemed to know you were in this trunk.

JACK: Well isn't he just the cat's meouw.

JENNIFER: Why are you jealous Jack?

JACK: No I'm Jack, Jennifer and that's what you used to be before he started looking for this miss Katerina.

JENNIFER: Look I can't make it clearer to you okay, Lawrence and I have never laid eyes on each other before tonight.

JACK: The only thing that's clear to me is that you're hiding something and I'm going to find out what it is.

JENNIFER: Look Jack I'm sorry if you think that I'm hiding something from you alright. But I am in the dark about this whole thing as much as you are.

JACK: Alright, let me rephrase the question. Why the hell does he think he knows you from before?

JENNIFER: Look all I know is that he believes I'm Katerina.

JACK: And that's what this is all about isn't it? This whole missing heiress charade, trying to get him to accept you as his betrothed.

JENNIFER: Yes.

JACK: Then the two of you get married and you live happily ever after.

JENNIFER: No.

JACK: No? Then what is this about? You tell me, what is this about?

JENNIFER: Warner and I had this plan. We had this whole plan worked out and yes, I was supposed to pose as Katerina.

JACK: Huh, uh.

JENNIFER: But Warner was supposed to tell Lawrence that I couldn't have children and once he found out that there weren't going to be any heirs from this marriage, he was supposed to call off this whole wedding.

JACK: Well your big mistake was trusting him. He dumped you. Bayer dumped you, don't you....

JENNIFER: I understand that Jack. I was stupid to trust him alright.

JACK: That's right.

JENNIFER: If we would have gone along with our plan it would have worked out.

JACK: That's right.

JENNIFER: And I would be on a plane home right now and the von Leuschners would be off the hook.

JACK: The von Leuschners! Wh.... why do you care what happens with the von Leuschners?

JENNIFER IS SILENT.

SCENE TWO: JENNIFER AND JACK ARE IN HER BEDROOM AT THE EMBASSY. JENNIFER ALMOST LET SLIP HER CONNECTION TO THE VON LEUSCHNERS. SHE HAS TO THINK QUICKLY TO PREVENT JACK FROM DISCOVERING THE TRUTH.

JACK: I don't believe you answered my question. Why do you care what happens with the von Leuschners? What did they ever do for you?

JENNIFER: It's not what they did

Jack, it's what they were going to do for me.

JACK: Hah, hah! The ubiquitous ulterior motive.

JENNIFER: Yes that's right. See if our plan had've worked out the von Leuschners would have been very grateful to me and I know that they would have given me an exclusive interview.

JACK: Oh, I see, so you're willing to risk your life as well as mine for a human interest story.

JENNIFER: Jack, I could have had ongoing access to one of the most powerful families in Europe, alright. And to me it's worth the price to pay.

JACK: And you expect me to believe that. How stupid do you think I am?

JENNIFER TURNS AND GIVES HIM A LOOK THAT SAYS SHE THINKS SHE CAN FOOL HIM.

JACK: Oooh! Hahahahahahah! This is very funny. Let's have a little laugh on Jack. Why not? You're obviously not taking this whole situation seriously.

JENNIFER: Not taking this seriously Jack.

JACK: Huh, uh.

JENNIFER: I'm going to be married off to a very rich, very powerful perfect stranger.

JACK: Well, whatever your reasons for doing this were, you may as well forget them. It's time to get out of this.

JENNIFER: Well that's easier said that done because this time we're not working with Warner Bayer. We're dealing with Lawrence Alamain.

JACK: Don't worry. I'm going to help you.

JENNIFER: Is that supposed to make me feel better Jack?

JACK: Well I don't see any other volunteers. I'm the only game in town.

JENNIFER: I don't want you to help me. I want to do this on my own. I don't want your help.

JACK: Wait, who are you calling?

JENNIFER: I'm going to call Roman.

JACK: Roman? Why.....

JENNIFER: Hello.... what? (Beat) Oh excuse me, yes, thank you.

JACK: Did you get a hold of him?

JENNIFER: They're screening all my calls Jack.

JACK: Huh, uh. Kind of limits the options, doesn't it? Well, my offer to help still stands.

JENNIFER: I don't want your offer. I don't want you to help me. I want you to leave here Jack. Why don't....

JACK GRABS HER ARMS AND SCREAMS IN HER FACE.

JACK: (Desperate) WHY DON'T YOU LISTEN TO ME? LISTEN TO ME FOR ONCE! NOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IF YOU GET KILLED OR WORSE GET MARRIED. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?

THEY BOTH PAUSE AND SHE LOOKS DOWN AT HIS HAND ON HER ARM.

JENNIFER: Why couldn't you be this concerned about me before.... when I used to be in love with you?
oldEp195C
JACK:
(Hurt) Well.... you know that.... timing never was my strong suit. I think we should forget about this until we get you out of this mess.

JENNIFER: Okay. Alright so let's say that I let you help me. Do you have a plan to sneak me out of here?

JACK: Actually I have a plan to sneak me out of here.

JENNIFER: Oh that's great and where does that leave me Jack?

JACK: Waiting patiently until I come back for you.

JENNIFER: No, this is never going to work. I mean how are you going to get out of here if Lawrence's men find you or try to kill you?

JACK: I'm going to get out of here the same way that I got in here.

JENNIFER LOOKS VERY UNSURE OF JACK'S PLAN. A SHORT TIME LATER, JENNIFER OPENS HER DOOR AND JACK COMES OUT.

JENNIFER: Alright, Jack, are you sure this is going to work?

JACK: Trust me.

SCENE THREE: LATER ON, JACK AND JENNIFER ARE IMPLEMENTING JACK'S PLAN TO GET HIM OUT OF THE EMBASSY. JACK MOVES AWAY FROM HER DOOR AND TRIES TO LOOK LOST IN THE EMBASSY. HE GIVES JENNIFER A THUMBS UP.

JENNIFER: Guards, guards, there's a strange man at my door and I need your help.

JACK IS LEANING ON THE WALL BABBLING IN A VERY STRANGE FOREIGN LANGUAGE.

GUARD 1: What the.... oh him again. I still don't recognize that language, do you?

GUARD 2: Beats me. I've never heard anything like it.

JENNIFER: You know I have. It's a dialect from the very remote sections of Scandinavia. I remember hearing it when my family was on holiday there.

GUARD 1: Do you speak it miss?

JENNIFER: Not fluently but I think I might be able to translate a few words. Go ahead.

JACK BEGINS TO BABBLE AT HER.

JACK: Dicken dock de histo urgh.

JENNIFER: I've lost my way.

JACK: End missen bloc de misten brugh.

JENNIFER: And I want to go home.

JACK: Visten gugh berch coten grugh block missen brugh en donka endagon mure onda konergh brugen ack de gregh.

JENNIFER: Please.

JACK: Kriken dorghen brak er missen brugh.

JENNIFER: Can you please help him. He seems harmless enough don't you think?

GUARD 1: Well maybe we can get him off the grounds before Mr. Alamain finds out.

THEY ESCORT JACK AWAY WHILE ALL THE TIME HE CONTINUES TO BABBLE. THEY TAKE HIM OUTSIDE THE GATE.

GUARD 1: Go home now and don't come back.

THE GUARDS LEAVE.

JACK: I'll be back.... Jennifer, just like I promised.

UP IN HER ROOM JENNIFER REMOVES HER TIARA AND LOOSENS HER HAIR. SHE LIES ON THE BED AND THINKS OF JACK AND WHAT A MESS SHE IS GOT HERSELF INTO.

SCENE FOUR: MEANWHILE, GREGORY TELLS LAWRENCE THAT THIS KATERINA MAY BE DIFFICULT. LAWRENCE SAYS THINGS WILL WORK OUT AND INSTRUCTS GREGORY TO GET A DISK TO NICK CORELLI SO THAT CARLY FINDS IT AND THEN FINDS HER WAY TO HIM.
