JENNIFER: What do you mean you don't want to go?

JACK: I don't want to go. I'm angling for something far more interesting.

JENNIFER: Oh no Jack, we have to go to this party.

JACK: We don't have to do anything.... except change our clothes and go where I want. Come on.

JENNIFER: What are you talking about?

JACK: Follow me.

JENNIFER: What do you mean, change my clothes?

JACK: It doesn't get much better than this, does it?

JENNIFER GIVES HIM A LOOK.

JENNIFER: I think it's pretty fun watching you play with the worms.

JACK: Well it is a prerequisite you know. Life in politics. Life in a newspaper.

HE PUTS HIS ARM AROUND HER.

JACK: Of course, it doesn't hurt when you're out alone fishing in a moonlit lake with a lovely lady.

JENNIFER: It is so beautiful out here Jack.

JACK: Huh, uh. Beautiful, lovely and dare I say it, romantic. Worms and all.

SHE GIGGLES.

JENNIFER: I never would have thought so but I guess romance is where you create it.

JACK: Well the worms might disagree but I do have to say that being alone on a lovely lake with you in the moonlight with you is.... well I don't know if I could stand anymore.

JENNIFER: It doesn't get any....

JACK: Better than this.

THEY KISS.

SCENE THREE: THEY ARE STILL KISSING WHEN SUDDENLY JENNIFER GETS A BIG BITE ON HER FISHING POLE.

JENNIFER: OH!.... Oh my gosh.

JACK: What?.... What, I didn't....

JENNIFER: Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I got a fish.

JACK: Oh you got a fish. Well pull him in.

JENNIFER: OOOOH!

JACK: Reel it in.

JENNIFER: It's a big fish.

JACK: It's a big one. Okay. Reel it in. This is part of the

JENNIFER: I can't.

JACK: Enjoy it.... enjoy it.

SHE STARTS MOVING AROUND AND ROCKING THE BOAT.

JENNIFER: Oh my gosh it's a whale. I have a whale.

JACK: Whale or no, it's getting tired. I can tell.

JENNIFER: It's a whale. OOOOOH!

JACK: It's.... it's.... you've got it, you've got it.

JENNIFER: Can you just help me Jack?

JACK: Jennifer, you.... hold on, you've got it. Hold on.

SHE STANDS UP TO GET MORE STRENGTH TO PULL IT IN.

JACK: You've got it. Hold on to it. Keep winding. No, what are you doing standing up Jennifer? Don't stand up.

JACK STANDS UP TO HELP HER.

JENNIFER: Jack I have to stand up. It's a big fish.

JACK: WHOA.... WHOA.

JENNIFER: AAAAAARRRRGGGHHH!

SHE FALLS IN HEAD FIRST FOLLOWED BY HIM.

JACK: Well I think we've finally cured his appetite for worms. I tell you, if I was ever going to be washed up, I want to be washed up with you Jennifer. And I'd like to washed up on this island.

JENNIFER: You know I've been here once before actually.

JACK: This wasn't your first time? (Beat) When?

JACK IS SURPRISED AND DISAPPOINTED.

JENNIFER: Well it was a summer night a lot like tonight.

JACK: I see. (Beat) Well I take it you weren't washed up alone either?

JENNIFER: No I wasn't. (Beat) And if you take a look at that tree over there, you'll see a lot of initial carved in it.

JACK WALKS OVER TO THE TREE.

JACK: Yes, looks like a good time.

JENNIFER: Let's go take a look. Look there, there's Steve Johnson and Kayla Brady.

JACK SIGHS.

JENNIFER: Mike Horton and April Ramirez.

JACK: Huh, uh.

JENNIFER: And then there's that JH and.... FB.
oldEp527D
JACK: (Jealously) FB. JH obviously is Jennifer Horton and FB....

JENNIFER: Frankie Brady.

JACK: Francoise! So the worm turns yet again.

JENNIFER: Well I love it when you're jealous.

JACK RAISES HIS EYEBROWS.

JENNIFER: Actually we were very innocent in those days Jack.

JACK: You're still innocent.... thank goodness.

JENNIFER: Yes, thank goodness. You know there is one more thing that can make tonight very special.

JACK: What's that?

JENNIFER: Hold on.

SHE GOES BACK TO THE CAMPFIRE AND GETS A KNIFE.

JACK: You're going to kill me. You're going to split me like the fish. No I know what you want me to do. You want me to deface that tree.

JENNIFER: Please?

HE GIVES HER A LOOK.

JENNIFER: Jack, it's a lover's tree. There's a lot of initials on it.

JACK: Yeah, a lot of initials. They may not just have all been lovers. Could have been a pirate or two.

JENNIFER: A pirate on an island in a lake?

JACK: Well you never know. I mean who knows? Maybe they even have a little buried treasure around here. Maybe even.... ah.... where you're standing.

JENNIFER: Oh yes, I'm sure there's a big buried treasure under my feet.

JACK: Maybe even exactly where you're standing.
oldEp527E
HE LOOKS HARD AT HER, OBVIOUSLY HE IS UP TO SOMETHING.

JACK: Right where you're standing!

JENNIFER: What do you mean?

SHE BENDS DOWN TO LOOK IN THE SAND.

JACK: I mean right where you're standing.

SHE STARTS SIFTING THROUGH THE SAND WITH HER FINGERS.

JENNIFER: Oh my gosh, I think I found something.

SCENE FIVE: JACK AND JENNIFER ARE ON THE ISLAND ON THE LAKE. JENNIFER HAS JUST DISCOVERED SOME HIDDEN PIRATE TREASURE, WHICH OF COURSE WAS HIDDEN THERE BY JACK. SHE PICKS UP A SMALL BOX.

JACK: Well fancy that.

SHE OPENS THE BOX AND IT CONTAINS PEARLY EARRINGS.

JENNIFER: Oh Jack they are so beautiful.
oldEp527F

JACK: Yes they are. It'll teach you not to doubt an old pirate.... (Trying to imitate a pirate) gawd blimey.

JENNIFER: I will never doubt you. I will never ever doubt you ever again.

THEY HUG AND JACK IS VERY VERY HAPPY.

JENNIFER: Thank you for this night because I will remember it as long as I live.

JACK: I tell you something, we're going to come back here someday, the three of us.

JENNIFER: Hmmm.

JACK: And we're going to show our child that tree and all those carvings on it. We're going to show her where her mother found first love.... and we both found true love. Carved in the tree.

JENNIFER: One crazy night in June 1993. You know I think this is a date that's going to go down in history.
